Dear Mustang Families:

Please forward this weekly message to your child's personal email! We have also started posting these messages on our website.

May you and your families be enjoying the May long weekend. We look forward to welcoming students back to school on Tuesday.

We would like to congratulate our Mustang performers for showing off their artistic talents, courage and comical natures in the drama production: “15 Reasons Not to Be In A Play’.  We thank the students, Mr. Marinucci, Ms. Grossi and Mr. Corry for investing hours of time into generating this production last Wednesday evening.  We look forward to future dramatic performances!

On Tuesday May 21, all parents are invited to the School Council Annual General Meeting at SJAM (6:30 – 8:00 pm).  The full agenda will be sent out tomorrow.  Over the past school year, your children have benefited greatly from the leadership of so many school volunteers (field trips, fun lunches) as well as this strong team of parents:

Chairperson:  Rose Llewellyn

Co-Chair:  Michelle Wood

Treasurer:  Jennifer Razzo

Secretary:  Kara Payne

Key Communicator:  Rose Llewellyn and Michelle Wood

On behalf of SJAM students and staff, thank you for enriching our school community in significant ways this past year.  If you would like to assume a leadership role in 2024-25 with our School Council, and/or vote on next year’s Council, please plan on attending.  The minutes for the 2023-24 meetings are on the SJAM website.  Free babysitting will be offered by leadership students; parents will be asked to please take their own children to the bathroom.

As 2023-24 draws to a close, we are seeking your support with school fees. Payments can be made through the Parent Portal of PowerSchool: https://sis.cbe.ab.ca/public/home.html. Thank you to the many families who have submitted all of their fees.

We do recognize it is fiscally challenging for many families with our high cost of living. School fees do accumulate from kindergarten through Grade 12. To support payment, families can submit partial installments on a monthly basis. In the past, schools had principal waivers; these no longer exist for items such as yearbooks and course fees. In Junior High, waivers only exist for musical instruments. Families cannot use a waiver for fees before 2023-24. Unpaid fees will follow students into high school.

Given CBE schools strive to be fiscally responsible with public funds, we are unable to provide a yearbook to students that ordered one and have not paid. We also need to see an effort that other fees are being paid off on a monthly basis. In high school, this practice will continue with yearbooks and tickets to graduation banquets being held back until efforts are made to submit payment for school fees.

If you need help paying your fees, please come to the Main Office or call 403-777-7670.  Dial 0 for the main office.  We appreciate your understanding.

Mustang of the Week: We are excited to share James L. (85) has been named our “Mustang of the Week”.  He is a quiet leader, who selflessly gives his time to support the school.  James sees what needs to be done, and steps forward to help with many events.  In the classroom, James sets a positive example by being willing to share ideas and knowledge with his peers.  His creativity is valued when working in groups.  He took the lead to finish the “Lyrics Video” recently. Congratulations James!
