Dear Mustang Families,

Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs)
Grade 9 Provincial Achievement exams resume on Tuesday morning with the Part B (multiple choice) Language Arts exam. Regular classes will proceed for Grade 7 and 8 students. To organize the school for PATs, some teacher locations will be changed for the exam – signs will be posted for students to reduce confusion. We wish our Grade 9 students well on this assessment.
Congratulations Track and Field - Thank You Coaches
Mr. Jones, Ms. Hornby, Mr. Jensen, and Mr. Kwiatkowski would like to extend a huge congratulations to our Track and Field team for their efforts this past Thursday. Our students competed with great determination and represented our school with pride, positivity, and outstanding sportsmanship. We are incredibly proud of how they performed and how they carried themselves as ambassadors of our school community.
A very special thank you goes out to our dedicated volunteer coaches: Mr. Hoblak, Mr. Manery, Ms. Dawson, Ms. Saker, Ms. MacLennan, Ms. McLellan, Ms. Howe, Mr. Shelestynsky, Ms. MacPhee, Mr. Parsons, and Mr. O’Lain. These individuals generously gave their time and energy to support our students. Without their commitment, opportunities like Track and Field would not be possible.
As we wrap up the athletic season, we would also like to congratulate all our student athletes who participated throughout the year. School sports provide valuable opportunities for students to take healthy risks, develop resilience, build relationships, learn important life skills, and, of course, have fun while staying active.
Finally, thank you to you, our parents and families, for encouraging your child to get involved. Your support plays a huge role in helping students step outside their comfort zones and experience the many benefits of athletics. We truly appreciate the partnership in supporting student growth—both on and off the field.
MRU Nursing Camp WELLness
Students who attended the MRU Nursing Camp WELLness symposium this past Thursday and Friday engaged enthusiastically with key wellness themes, including friendship and relationships, stress and anxiety, healthy coping strategies, and sleep hygiene. The experience encouraged students to reflect on their own well-being and explore ways to seek support when needed. For families interested in extending this learning, additional programs that support youth mental wellness are available for individuals aged 16 and older through a partnership between CMHA Calgary and YMCA Calgary:

This article could prompt valuable conversations with you and your child: Healthy Self Care for Teens. During our last June 17 ‘wellbeing’ homeroom, we will pick up on these self-empowerment themes.
Calgary Showband
We are fortunate to have Rachael Lough, from the Recruitment Team for Calgary Showband, in on Thursday June 11. She will host an optional presentation for all interested marching band students from 12:00 – 12:30 pm. Further details in the links below:
- Calgary Round-Up Band (Grade 7 – 9)
- Calgary Stetson Show Band (Grade 10 – 12)
- 2026-2027 Stampede Showband Auditions - Intellistack (16 – 21 years old)
Yearbooks and Fees
Given CBE schools strive to be fiscally responsible with public funds, we are unable to provide a yearbook to students that ordered one and have not paid; yearbooks will be distributed on Thursday June 26. We also need to see an effort that other fees for 2025-26 are paid off in manageable installments. In high school, this practice will continue with yearbooks and tickets to graduation banquets being held back until efforts are made to submit payment for school fees.
Track Meet Fees
If your child went on the track meet, please make sure this fee has been paid in the parent PowerSchool portal. When fees are outstanding, we do work with parents to create a payment plan: please contact Ms. Reynolds (sareynolds@cbe.ab.ca) and Ms. Hornby (mahornby@cbe.ab.ca) - please make arrangements to pay all 2025-26 school fees by Friday June 19 or your child will face delays in picking up their yearbook. Free autograph pages are provided to students who did not make this purchase.
