Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA) celebrated the outstanding achievements of nine recipients in Grades 6, 9 and 11 at ASBA’s 2025 Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Student Award celebration, held on June 9 at Government House in Edmonton.
The nine recipients from across Alberta were nominated by members of their educational communities. Each has shown tremendous growth in developing skills to better themselves through determination, initiative and independence, leading to their improvement and success both academically and personally.
Mattias, a Grade 9 SJAM student, is known for his kindness, reliability and deep commitment to community. Since Grade 7, he has volunteered with Brown Bagging for Calgary Kids, not only distributing lunches but also mentoring peers and fostering leadership. A quiet yet impactful leader, Mattias leads with humility and integrity, inspiring others through his actions. He actively supports school events and uplifts those around him. This year, he represented his school at Mount Royal University’s Middle School Student Well-Being Symposium, where he spoke thoughtfully about the power of connection and meaningful involvement in student life. Mattias was also recently named the 'Mustang of the Week' given his pursuit of excellence in the classroom, the community and with our strong Mustang school culture. We wish Mattias well as he heads off to Crescent Heights High School - he will continue to excel.
