Due to continued enrolment growth at Nose Creek School, it is anticipated that the school will be unable to accommodate all incoming students from the currently designated communities for the 2025-26 school year and beyond. For this reason, overflow schools will be established for students living in the community of Carrington for the 2025-26 school year. Further changes will be required for the 2026-27 school year and will be communicated in the fall of 2025.

Effective immediately, all new Carrington community registrations for Nose Creek School who cannot be accommodated will have the following overflow school designations:

  • Grade 6 students will be designated to North Haven School located in the community of North Haven at 4922 North Haven Dr NW Calgary, AB T2K 2K2, phone 403-777-6220
  • Grade 7 to 9 students will be designated to Sir John A. Macdonald School, located in the community of Huntington Hills at 6600 4 St NW Calgary, AB T2K 1C2, phone 403-777-7670

Grade 6 to 9 students who live in the Carrington community and attend one of the overflow schools will be placed on a call-back list and offered a place at Nose Creek School should space become available during the 2025-26 school year.

Are there any changes for students already registered for the 2025-26 school year?

All Carrington students who are currently registered to attend Nose Creek School will attend Nose Creek School for the 2025-26 school year.

How does a call-back list work?

If space becomes available at Nose Creek School during the 2025-26 school year, that space will be offered to students on the call-back list who are currently attending North Haven School and Sir John A. Macdonald School. You will be notified if a space becomes available at Nose Creek School. Students remain on the call-back list while they attend the designated overflow school. Students will be removed from the call-back list if they move out of the Carrington community or transfer from their designated overflow school.

Any new registrations received for the 2025-26 school year will be added to the call-back list based on priority designation and the date and time of their registration.

Is there transportation for students attending the designated overflow schools?

Students overflowed to North Haven School will be eligible for transportation to their designated school or overflow school if they live beyond the walk zone. Please note that transportation fees apply to overflow situations as well.

Students overflowed to Sir John A. Macdonald School will be eligible for transportation to their designated school or overflow school if they live beyond the walk zone. Please note modes of transportation for middle and junior high school students can include yellow school bus service or Calgary Transit. For the 2025-26 school year, the mode of transportation has been confirmed as yellow school bus. Please note that transportation fees apply to overflow situations as well.

In the CBE and across the city, we are experiencing a school bus driver shortage that may impact the mode of service provided. Please be assured that we are doing everything possible to restore the reliability of transportation services. Visit Busing & Transportation for information, and to register for transportation, visit MyCBE. Alternatively, families may use a paper form that is available on our website
