Dear SJAM Families,
Thank you to all the families who joined us for our Meet the Teacher evening! It was wonderful to welcome so many families into our school and begin building the strong home-school partnerships that are so important to student success. One of the highlights of the evening was watching students proudly guide their families through the building, introduce their teachers, and share their learning spaces. Their excitement, confidence, and sense of belonging were truly heartwarming. We appreciate the time you took to connect with our staff and learn more about the exciting year ahead.
Homework Helpers (YMCA)
The Homework Helpers program, offered through the YMCA, provides students with a supportive space to work on homework, receive academic assistance, and build confidence in their learning. The program runs in the SJAM Learning Commons every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:50 p.m. to 4:50 p.m. and is a great opportunity for students who would benefit from extra support or a quiet place to focus on their schoolwork.
If your student is interested in signing up please send an email to Mr. Jensen (lgjensen@cbe.ab.ca) OR you can find the information and a QR on the main page of our website.
Terry Fox School Run
In 1980, Terry showed us what courage, compassion, and determination look like. Today, that example is needed more than ever and we are inspired to join 4,000,000 Canadian students who are leading the way. By fundraising for innovative research, our school community is literally changing the lives of Canadians facing cancer. Thanks to your donation, we're driving cancer research forward, faster than ever.
Terry started a marathon against cancer and together, we can "Finish It"

Athletics Update
Our fall sports season is off to a fantastic start!
- Cross Country Team Off to a Strong Start! We are proud to celebrate the success of our first cross-country meet of the season, held on Thursday. More than 50 Sir John A. Macdonald Mustangs participated, demonstrating outstanding effort, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the event.
While many of our runners achieved impressive results, what stood out most was the way all students represented our school with class, respect, and perseverance. We are incredibly proud of the commitment and positive attitude shown by every athlete. A special thank you goes to Mr. Manery and Ms. Bartley, who stepped in at the last minute to support the team and help Ms. McLellan manage the scheduling conflict with Meet the Teacher Night and multiple coaches needing to be two places at once. Their flexibility and willingness to help ensured our students had a wonderful experience.
The season continues quickly, with our second meet taking place this Tuesday at West Confederation Park. We are excited to see our Mustangs compete again and continue building on a fantastic start to the season.
- Basketball tryouts have begun, and we are excited to see our student-athletes showcase their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Soccer games will be starting soon. We look forward to cheering on our Mustangs as they take to the field.
- Don't forget about Fit Club, an incredible opportunity for students to stay active, build healthy habits, and have fun with friends. Fit Club runs every Monday after school from 2:50 to 3:30 p.m. and every Friday morning at 7:00 a.m. We encourage all students to come out and get moving!
Thank you to all families for your ongoing support of our student-athletes!
