Tomorrow morning, Grade 9 students will be writing their Part A Language Arts PAT (PAT Parent Guide.) while the Grade 7 and 8 learners will be practicing a longer written response. Targeted school messages were sent out to each grade last week with detailed instructions.
Reminders for all students - Please:
- Turn off and store ALL electronic devices, including cell phones, headphones and smartwatches.
- Store electronics in backpacks; ALL backpacks, bags, purses etc. must be placed in the designated space.
- Before the beginning of the test, place a reading book underneath your chair in case you finish early.
- Bring snacks in a clear bag; unwrap snacks beforehand; only drinks allowed are water bottles.
- Stay seated and quiet throughout the test. Note: Grade 7 and 8 students will have a body movement PE break.

On Wednesday night, all families are invited to come enjoy 15 Reasons Not To Be in a Play. The doors will open at 6:00 pm, while the play will be performed in the Main Gym at 6:30 pm. Our drama team, led by Mr. Marinucci, are excited to entertain Mustang families with their performance! We look forward to welcoming you to the school.

- Thursday May 16 is our spring pep rally. Several (great sport) teachers have volunteered to be ‘pied’ at this event to raise money for Mustard Seed. We have already met our goal of $500! Well done Mustangs!

- Track and Field:
- It begins on Tuesday May 14.
- We have 14 adults committed to coaching which is AMAZING.
- Event practices are spread out so please refer to calendar in our SJAM Athletic Center.
- Practices at the back end of the season will be filled in advance but haven’t been fully determined. Weather often impacts scheduling hence the need for some flexibility. The calendar will be updated as needed.
- Athletes can try out for as many events as they wish to. However, they will only be allowed to compete in 3 events plus the 4 x 100m relay.
- Badminton players can let coaches know they are at a badminton competition if there is a conflict between practices and the above dates.
- Thermopylae -- Save the Date – Tuesday June 4
- Fit Club will continue every Monday from 3pm-3:45pm and Friday morning before school at 7am. To qualify for the FREE Thermopylae Race (5 km mud run) at Valley Creek School in Hidden Valley, competitors must qualify to compete by attending Fit Club as much as possible.
- Paperwork for this FREE event has been distributed to students. Please return them on Tuesday May 28 at the latest.
Mustang of the Week
We are excited to share Tobi O. (75) has been named our Mustang of the Week. Tobi often assumes informal leadership roles in the school including extra support in the Learning Commons and her classroom. As a member of the Badminton Team and Board Game Club, Tobi’s leadership is valued by her teammates. When she gives a presentation, Tobi is passionate and well prepared – teachers value and appreciate her high level of academic engagement. Congratulations Tobi!
