Dear Mustang Families
Please forward this weekly message to your child's personal email! We have also started posting these messages on our website.
May you and your family enjoy our thanksgiving weekend. As we reflect on what we have to be thankful for, gratitude is extended to the SJAM Parent Society. This past Wednesday, many students enjoyed a fun lunch. Several parent volunteers worked diligently to organize and hand out lunches for students. We extend our appreciation to Rose Llewellyn (Chair) for leading this important initiative. Full details at this link.
In another effort to encourage your children to stay at school during lunch, many school Clubs are starting in October. We are advertising these opportunities on our school TVs and at our Pep Rally. We join you in wanting your children to experience learning opportunities beyond the classroom.

Oki, Tansi, Danit'ada, Umba-watich, Tawnshi, Bonjour, Hello
This week we are happy to announce that Prairie Chickens has resumed. Thank you to the YMCA for continuing to offer this opportunity for our families.
Our Planet Youth Connection is also continuing and is now shared between ourselves and Diefenbaker High School.
We invite all families to engage in an ongoing conversation about our TRC Commitment. Each student should be experiencing the efforts of this commitment in their classes, and we hope that it leads to connection and conversation. A full update for September will be shared at our School Council Meeting.
Aaayyy, Hiy Hiy, Siyisgaas, Mîkwec, Merci, Thank you.

Ms. Hudson and Ms. Ralph (nahudson@cbe.ab.ca and ledawson@cbe.ab.ca)
Our Halloween dance is coming up on October 26 from 5:00-7:30. Tickets will be on sale October 23, 24, and 25 (Monday through Wednesday) in the front foyer at lunch and after school for four dollars. As families start thinking about costumes, please consider that faces must be visible and that costumes must be respectful of all cultures and appropriate for school. Please reach out if you have questions.
Mustang of the Week: We are excited to share Ammon R. (92) has been nominated as the first student to win this recognition in 2023-24. Ammon is recognized for his work with Students Council, membership on school teams, and his personal commitment to academic excellence in class. Congratulations Ammon!

Community Resources
From Wishart, Jessica : an opportunity for residents to participate on a community advisory committee and in focus groups regarding challenges with heating their homes and paying energy bills. Participants will be compensated for their time (a living wage), food will be provided, and transportation and childcare can be arranged. Although there are limits with what can be influenced (especially around energy prices), hopefully some of the solutions generated will help residents feeling the pinch and provide an opportunity for folks to have their voices heard. Any questions or feedback please reach out to Jessica at. Click the social post under Resources to enlarge.
