This past Thursday and Friday, students participated in our Retro and PJ Day alongside staff. A huge shout-out to the many parents and faculty who showed up for the dance! Mr. Shelestynsky and our Leadership students created a high-energy, memorable event that fosters social connection and independence. We were thrilled to have so many students join in.

Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences

Sign-up for interviews is open from Tuesday, March 10 through Sunday, March 15. Interview times are as follows:

  • Tuesday, March 17: 4:00–8:00 PM – In person
  • Friday, March 20: 8:30 AM–12:30 PM – Virtual (no school for students)

Mr. Kwiatkowski (bakwiatkowski@cbe.ab.ca) will be sending more details on Tuesday. If you haven't already, please review your child's first semester report card through MyCBE.

MADD Presentation – Grade 9 Students

On Wednesday, March 11 at 9:10 AM, Grade 9 students will attend a presentation from MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). MADD Canada's 2025–2026 School Program is a powerful dramatization about the tragic consequences of impaired driving, including testimonials from real-life victims. The presentations are designed to communicate directly with young people and encourage them to reflect on their values and perceptions.

If you feel your child may be triggered by this presentation, please reach out to Ms. Hornby (mahornby@cbe.ab.ca) or Ms. Billeck (mibilleck@cbe.ab.ca). We will do our best to provide a quiet space if needed. The presentations are designed to communicate directly with young people on their level and in their language, and encourage them to take a closer look at their values and perceptions. School Council Meeting – March 17

Our next School Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 17 from 6:30–8:00 PM in Room 1. Families are welcome to drop in for all or part of the meeting. The evening's special presentation will be by our Fine Arts/CTF Learning Leader, Ms. MacLennan, who will speak about SJAM's Complementary Courses for 2026–27.

2026–27 Option Selections – Grades 7–8

Current Grade 7 and 8 students will select next year's options and Homeroom Buddies on Wednesday and Thursday through their SMATH classes. If your child is away, they can email Mr. Jensen (lgjensen@cbe.ab.ca) or Ms. Reynolds (sareynolds@cbe.ab.ca), or log into the student MyCBE portal to make their selections. Please note that selecting band (Choices 1–6) places a student in the full-year band class. All selections are due by March 20, 2026.

Family Travel Survey

Please take a few minutes to complete our Family Travel Survey. Your feedback helps us understand how students travel to and from SJAM and any challenges they may face. This information supports our goal of ensuring safe travel for all students.

Active and Safe Schools Project

Student Council members will be participating in a workshop on Monday and Tuesday (9:15 AM–12:15 PM) with representatives from the City of Calgary as part of the Ever Active Schools project. Ms. Ralph and Ms. Greenham will also be present. This initiative supports schools in encouraging active travel and addressing traffic safety concerns around school zones.
